Disney's first North American touring production of the beloved musical, featuring classic songs like 'Be Our Guest' and 'Beauty and the Beast'.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast opens at the Buell Theatre on Tuesday, October 20, and runs through November 7. It's the first North American touring production of the musical in more than 25 years, and it brings the story to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts downtown at 14th and Curtis.
The show is built around the Oscar-winning and Tony Award-nominated score, with the songs you'll recognize from the movie—'Be Our Guest' and 'Beauty and the Beast' among them. It's a full-length production, running about two and a half hours with a 20-minute intermission, and it's recommended for ages 6 and up. On select performances, there's an Extra Magic Package available for those who want a bit more than just the show.
Behind the scenes, the production reunites members of the original Tony Award-winning artistic team. Direction and choreography are by Matt West, and the original team of composer Alan Menken, lyricist Tim Rice, and book writer Linda Woolverton is back. The sets are by Stanley A. Meyer, costumes by Ann Hould-Ward, and lighting by Natasha Katz. This is a fresh touring version, with new sets and costumes rather than a revival of an older production.
