Concert by the Austin punk rock quartet Die Spitz, supported by Farmer's Wife, at the Boulder Theater.
Die Spitz play the Boulder Theater in Denver on Saturday, October 10, with Farmer's Wife opening. The Austin quartet formed in 2022, and the four members—Ava Schrobilgen, Chloe De St. Aubin, Eleanor Livingston, and Kate Halter—are all Austin natives who grew up together. Schrobilgen and Livingston met in preschool, and Halter joined in middle school, so they've been around each other long before they ever started a band.
Their debut album, Something to Consume, was produced by Will Yip at Studio 4. The sound pulls from classic punk, hardcore, metal, alt rock, and grunge, and the live shows are where that energy really comes out: they're known for cartwheels, crowd-surfing, and the four of them swapping instruments and vocal duties throughout the set. They've opened for and matched the energy of acts like OFF!, Amyl and the Sniffers, Viagra Boys, and Sleater-Kinney.
As for the name, it came from a joke that went too far—they ended up sticking with Die Spitz over a 'brown bag of Fireball.'
