Concert by singer-songwriter Covenhoven (Joel Van Horne) with special guest Lauren Frihauf at Swallow Hill Music.
Covenhoven plays Swallow Hill Music on Saturday, October 24, with Lauren Frihauf joining him on stage. The show is at Daniels Hall, 71 E Yale Ave in Denver.
Covenhoven is the stage name of Colorado native Joel Van Horne, a multi-instrumental singer-songwriter who has been putting out music since 2013. He's built his sound around layered acoustic arrangements that swell into orchestral peaks, with lyrics that contrast hard-won wisdom with the hope of the natural world. His voice does a lot of the heavy lifting: a reedy baritone and a commanding falsetto that have drawn critical and fan attention over the years. He's released four full-length albums and two EPs, and his songs have been streamed over 7 million times.
His 2021 album IV was his most collaborative and rock-forward to date, featuring more than a dozen musicians including Gregory Alan Isakov, Luke Mossman, and Julie Davis. He's shared the stage with Jose Gonzalez, John Paul White, Lord Huron, and Leif Vollebekk, and his songs have appeared on shows like 13 Reasons Why, Nashville, and Teen Wolf. For this date, he'll be joined by Lauren Frihauf.
