Colorado's Indigenous Comic and Art Festival featuring comics, art, fashion, storytelling, and Indigenous-owned businesses.
áyA Con returns to the National Western Center from October 9 to 11, 2026, as Colorado's Indigenous Comic & Art Festival. It's presented by Create áyA, a non-profit that describes its mission as empowering marginalized artists and fostering cultural reconnection.
At its core, the festival is a marketplace and a community storytelling space. More than a hundred artisans, non-profits, creatives, and Native-owned businesses set up tables, so you can browse comics, art, and fashion while talking directly to the people who made them. The storytelling side runs alongside that, with artists sharing the stories behind their work.
Two specific features stand out this year. The Indigenous Haus of Barbie is a two-spirit drag troupe that brings a performance element to the mix. Then there's the Futurism Fashion Showcase, which challenges designers to revisit the past and reassert ownership over their stories and styles—a prompt that puts the act of looking back right at the center of the new work they're showing.
