A conversation between financial educator Amanda Holden and Democratic nominee Melat Kiros at the Tattered Cover Book Store.
Amanda Holden is appearing at Tattered Cover Colfax on Monday, October 12, for a conversation with Melat Kiros. It's a pairing that brings together two people from very different professional worlds—financial education and law—sharing a stage at one of the city's most recognizable bookstores.
Holden is the founder of the financial-education company Invested Development. She left her job in investment management to teach more than 25,000 students how to invest with clarity and joy, and her national bestseller, How to Be a Rich Old Lady!, is a step-by-step guide to financial freedom. Online, she goes by @dumpster.doggy, and she holds degrees in economics and communications from UCLA. Beyond the numbers, she's active in activism and secondhand "trashion" fashion.
Her conversation partner, Melat Kiros, is the Democratic nominee for Colorado's first congressional district. Born in Addis Ababa and raised in Denver, she earned her law degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2022. She was fired from a New York law firm after refusing to take down an article she wrote defending student protesters, and she's currently earning a doctorate in public policy from the University of Denver. The evening is hosted by Tattered Cover, a large independent bookstore with four locations in and around Denver—and a fifth planned for Westminster—that stages more than 500 events each year.
