A major annual rodeo and livestock show featuring family activities, exhibits, and agricultural education at the National Western Center.
The National Western Stock Show returns to the National Western Center from Saturday, January 9 through Sunday, January 24, 2027. It's a 16-day run, and it's still marketed as the 'Best 16 Days in January.' The whole thing is based at the National Western Complex at 4655 Humboldt Street in Denver, with all the rodeo performances taking place in the neighboring Denver Coliseum.
The show has been around since 1906, and these days it's part of the National Western Center, an urban hub for food and agriculture discovery that also houses CSU Spur. The centerpiece is the 385,000-square-foot Sue Anschutz-Rodgers Livestock Center. The site sits two miles from downtown Denver, right next to the RiNo Art District, with exhibits, classes, public art, and family activities alongside brand-new venues, historic buildings, and a restored South Platte riverfront.
Two of the show's oldest traditions are still at its heart: Catch-A-Calf, its longest-running educational program, and the junior auction, which funds 120 scholarships a year for students of agriculture, veterinary, and rural medicine. The whole thing kicks off a day early with the Kick-Off Parade on Thursday, January 8, at noon in downtown Denver, where more than 30 longhorn cattle are driven twelve blocks down 17th Street from Union Station to Glenarm Place.
