A hands-on baking class where attendees learn to create a realistic and elegant Bûche de Noël with La Casita Bakeshop.
La Casita Bakeshop is hosting a hands-on baking class at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden on Saturday, November 14, from 11 AM to 1 PM. The session is all about the Bûche de Noël—the classic Yule Log—and it's held in the Green Classroom.
If you've ever made a rolled cake, you know the basic part is easy enough. The real work comes after that. La Casita Bakeshop walks you through the step-by-step techniques needed to turn a simple roll into a realistic, elegant Yule Log, with a particular focus on the finishing touches: the textures, the fine details, and the design elements that give the dessert a professionally crafted look rather than a home-baked one. It's a class for anyone who wants to move past the basics and get a handle on the presentation side of things.
The class is part of Autumn at the Arboretum, one of Dallas's most beloved seasonal traditions. This year, the garden's 66 acres are filled with more than 100,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash. The Pumpkin Village takes on the theme 'Harvest Hues,' reimagined through the lens of modern and contemporary artists including Basquiat, Rothko, Bourgeois, Mondrian, Escher, and Pollock, and rounded off with giant 'Harvest Hues' letters painted by Dallas muralist Alli K. If you're heading in for the class, you'll have plenty of reason to stick around and walk through the displays afterward.
