Concert by the Dallas rock band Tripping Daisy, with special guests The Deathray Davies, at the State Fair of Texas.
Tripping Daisy play the State Fair of Texas on Sunday, October 11, with The Deathray Davies opening. The date is part of the band's 2026 Texas Tour, presented by Cactus Music.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, it's because Tripping Daisy was a Dallas rock band that spent the nineties building a reputation for a sound often described as Beatlesque grunge. They formed and started touring around the area in 1991, and Dragon Street Records put out their debut album, Bill. From there they moved to Island Records, where they released I Am an Elastic Firecracker and their magnum opus, Jesus Hits Like the Atom Bomb, with frontman Tim DeLaughter on the songs.
That run came to an end in 1999. Wes Berggren died of an overdose on October 27 that year, and the band cancelled their tours and disbanded on December 14. Their final self-titled album came out posthumously, with Berggren's father, Don, playing Fender Rhodes on the unfinished "Soothing Jubilee."

After the split, DeLaughter went on to form The Polyphonic Spree, a 24-piece symphonic rock band he put together alongside former bandmates Mark Pirro and Bryan Wakeland. This show at the State Fair of Texas is one stop on the band's 2026 Texas Tour, presented by Cactus Music, with The Deathray Davies opening the bill.
