A sensory art activity for 2- and 3-year-olds where children explore art and create projects inspired by music.
Toddler Art is back at the Dallas Museum of Art on Wednesday, October 14, starting at 11 AM. It's built for 2- and 3-year-olds, and the museum describes it as a favorite grown-up activity: families explore works of art in the galleries and then create their own project or engage in sensory play. The session is $10.
This October, the focus is on how artists are inspired by the melodies and rhythms of music. The children will flex their sensory skills as they discover that connection, moving from looking at art in the galleries to making something of their own. It's a simple enough premise, but it's exactly the kind of thing that works with this age group—looking first, then doing.
There are a few practical things to keep in mind. Class size is limited to 12 children, so it's a small group rather than a crowded room. Adults and younger siblings don't need a ticket, so you can bring the rest of the family along. If the session fills up, you can email the museum to be placed on the waiting list. Accessibility accommodations like ASL interpretation, gallery stools, and wheelchairs are available on request.
