Hard rock band Toadies perform live at the State Fair of Texas on the Chevrolet Main Stage as part of The Charmer Tour.
Toadies play the State Fair of Texas on Sunday, October 11, at the Chevrolet Main Stage. It's a Fort Worth quartet that formed in 1989 and broke through with "Possum Kingdom" and their million-selling 1994 debut, Rubberneck. They built a reputation for unpredictable songwriting and a sound that blends alt-rock intensity with country, classic rock and Texas grit, led by frontman Vaden Todd Lewis. Often dismissed as a one-hit wonder, their prickly hard rock, punctuated by jagged riffs and misanthropic lyrics, offered a snarling alternative to the more commercial grunge and alternative-rock superstars of the 1990s.
This show is part of The Charmer Tour, following their long-awaited eighth album, written largely during the pandemic around themes of isolation, self-reflection and inner conflict and released via Austin's Spaceflight Records. It was one of the final recordings by producer Steve Albini, who worked with the band on the record before his death. The set will draw from that new material alongside the older songs they're known for.
