Grammy Award-winning guitarist Steve Vai performs live on his BEAT 2026 tour at the Music Hall at Fair Park.
Steve Vai plays the Music Hall at Fair Park on Monday, November 30, as part of his BEAT 2026 tour. If you've never seen him live, it's a good place to start: he's a Grammy Award-winning guitarist, composer, and record producer who's spent decades as one of the most recognizable names in guitar.
Vai's career is a long list of high-profile associations. He grew up on Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Alice Cooper, and Jimmy Page, and used to jam with his teacher, Joe Satriani, before heading to Berklee College of Music. His professional life took off through Zappa, who hired him to transcribe his experimental symphonic rock after being impressed by his playing; Zappa called him his 'little Italian virtuoso' and listed him as 'stunt guitarist.' After leaving Zappa in 1982, Vai recorded Flex-Able, replaced Yngwie Malmsteen as lead guitarist in Alcatrazz for Disturbing the Peace, and joined David Lee Roth to record the multi-platinum albums Eat 'em And Smile and Skyscraper. In 1989, he replaced Adrian Vandenberg in Whitesnake to record Slip of the Tongue. He's also known to have perfect pitch.
