Indie rock band Slow Pulp performs live at The Echo Lounge & Music Hall in Dallas, with support from Snuggle.
Slow Pulp play The Echo Lounge & Music Hall on Tuesday, November 3, with Snuggle opening. It's a mid-week show in Dallas, and the set will be built around their third album, Melodie, which came out September 18 on ANTI-.
If you're coming to them now, it helps to know where they started. Slow Pulp formed in Madison, Wisconsin, in the mid-2010s when singer and guitarist Emily Massey met childhood friends Henry Stoehr on guitar, Alex Leeds on bass, and Teddy Mathews on drums. They grew up on '90s alt-rock and the 2000s indie wave, and they've described their approach as pan-American rock. In 2018, the band moved from Madison to Chicago.
Their debut album, Moveys, came out in 2020. Massey recorded the vocals while caring for her parents, the latter a veteran musician who had been injured in a car crash. Their second record, Yard, arrived in 2022; Massey wrote many of its lyrics in a northern Wisconsin cabin during a COVID scare, and the band toured it with the Pixies, Death Cab for Cutie, and Alvvays. Melodie is their third, and it's the one they're out supporting now.
