Signs of the Swarm

Signs of the Swarm play The Echo Lounge & Music Hall on Tuesday, October 20, with Aborted and Party Cannon opening. The Pittsburgh deathcore act has a reputation for being one of the most brutal bands in the world, and they've spent the last few years moving from the fringes of the genre to a place where they're called a "once-a-generation beacon" of it.

Their fourth album, Absolvere, is the record they're touring. It mixes bleak, smashing, downtempo deathcore with an ethereal side that comes from vocalist David Simonich's expanded range, and it features Ben Duerr and Alex Erian on growls and shouts. The record was shaped by Bobby Crow—who has moved from drums to bass and back to drums—acting as de facto producer, and it charted at #15 on the Current Hard Music Albums list. Simonich's debut, 2019's Vital Deprivation, featured guitarist Jeff Russo, a former Improvience bandmate.

They've toured with Fit for an Autopsy, Born of Osiris, and Shadow of Intent, and their setlists tend to lean on tracks like "To Rid Myself of Truth," "Tower of Torsos," "HELLMUSTFEARME," "Pray for Death," and "Natural Selection."

Doors open at 6 PM and the show starts at 7 PM. The Echo Lounge is at 1323 N Stemmons Fwy in Dallas.
