One-woman band Robin Lore, who plays drums with her feet while singing and playing guitar, hosts an open mic night.
Robin Lore hosts her open mic night at Bar Mico on Wednesday, October 7, starting at 8 PM. If you haven't seen her play, it's a one-woman band in the truest sense: she plays the drums with her feet while singing and playing guitar. It's a lot to keep track of at once, and seeing it in person is the only way it really makes sense.
Lore is a multifaceted solo artist with four CDs of all-original music behind her. She's toured extensively, and much of that comes from her background as a drummer in bands across New York and Massachusetts. That drumming is still the foundation of what she does, even when she's the only one on stage.
She's played some well-known rooms along the way, including Austin City Limits, House of Blues, The Viper Room, and The Deep Ellum Art Company. She's also opened for Ani DiFranco and Evan Dando. In 2008, she took home the Orange County Music Awards for Best Live Female Performer, as well as the Texas Solo Artist 'Bridgie' Award.

Since she's hosting the open mic, the night isn't just about her set—it's about other local musicians stepping up to the mic too. You'll get her playing, and then you'll get whoever else shows up to play. It all kicks off at 8 PM at Bar Mico, 4711 Maple Ave, Dallas, TX 75219.
