Potions 101: A Mixology Class

Potions 101: A Mixology Class is happening this Thursday, October 15, from 7 to 8 PM at The Apothecary, which you'll find inside the Funny Library Coffee Shop on the ground floor of Virgin Hotels Dallas. It's a one-hour guided session led by the venue's lead alchemist, and the whole thing is built around shaking, stirring and conjuring your own drinks.

During the hour, you'll mix two "enchanted elixirs" with Bombay Sapphire as the key ingredient. You follow the process from the first pour to the final flourish, so you're actually making the drinks yourself rather than just watching someone else do it. The lead alchemist walks you through the steps, and you get to keep what you make.

It's an over-21s only event, and spots are limited, so it's the kind of thing you'll want to book ahead of time rather than showing up and hoping for a seat. If you've never made a cocktail before, this is a low-stakes way to get a handle on the basics—shaking, stirring, and the little touches that finish a drink—without having to buy all the gear and bottles yourself.
