Country-roots and blues musician Nicky Diamonds performs live at the State Fair of Texas.
Nicky Diamonds plays the State Fair of Texas on Monday, October 12, as part of the fair's 2026 run. He's an Afro-Indigenous country-roots and blues musician from San Antonio, now based in Nashville, and this is a solo bill—just him on stage.
His songwriting draws on old hymn books and family history, and he describes his work as recounting the stories of his ancestors and keeping the roots of country and blues alive. He tours with a 95-year-old Dobro, and while he occasionally plays with his band, The Deepcuts, this particular show is a solo date. The material he's playing comes from that same tradition—old-school country and delta blues, the kind of music that doesn't change much from one generation to the next.
There's a new record in the mix, too. His latest delta blues album was recorded at Willie Nelson's studio in Spicewood, Texas, and was due out in the spring of 2025, so it's been out for a while by the time he hits the fair. Between the new songs and the older roots material, the set should cover a good stretch of what he does.
