A hands-on creative workshop to design and assemble handcrafted mosaic candle holders using glass tiles, inspired by Turkish mosaic traditions.
Mosaic Tile Candleholders is coming to The Green Classroom at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden on Tuesday, October 13, from 6 PM to 8 PM. It's a hands-on workshop where you design and assemble your own handcrafted candle holder using glass tiles, and you'll be guided through the process by instructor Matt Yigit.
The class draws on centuries-old Turkish mosaic traditions, so you're working with a style that's been around for a long time rather than something purely modern. You'll spend the evening arranging glass tiles into a pattern and assembling them into a candle holder you can actually take home and use. It's the kind of thing that's easy to get lost in for a couple of hours—the sort of project where you start with a few pieces and end up with something finished by the time you leave.
It's part of the Arboretum's Creative Arts Classes, a series of hands-on workshops that run alongside the garden's other seasonal offerings. If you've spent any time at the Arboretum, you know it's not just about the plants; they keep a steady rotation of classes like this going throughout the year. This one is a standalone session, so you don't need to have taken anything else to jump in.
