Japanese alternative rock trio Mass of the Fermenting Dregs perform live at AM/FM in Dallas, Texas.
Mass of the Fermenting Dregs play AM/FM on Tuesday, May 4, 2027. The Japanese trio is coming through Dallas as part of their Iwaou tour, and they're the only act on the bill.
If you haven't come across them yet, they're an alternative rock trio from Kobe. The sound is led by bassist and vocalist Natsuko Miyamoto, and it's built around a heavy, explosive wall of sound paired with pop-leaning melodies and ethereal vocals. It's a combination that's earned them a name in post-hardcore and shoegaze, and the live show is where that contrast usually hits hardest—the loud, distorted textures meeting the cleaner, melodic lines.
Their style pulls from a wide range of Japanese music: J-Rock, shoegaze, math rock, shibuya-kei, and Japanese indie/post-rock. Because they draw from so many different corners, the songs can shift from heavy and driving to something more atmospheric and melodic within the same set. The Dallas date is part of the Iwaou tour, so you'll be hearing them as a trio.
