Maggie Antone plays the Chevy Stage at the State Fair of Texas on Tuesday, October 13, starting at 7:45 PM. She's a singer-songwriter from Richmond, Virginia, who describes her own sound as "y'all-ternative"—a blend of country and indie that doesn't quite fit into one box.
Antone first caught on in the autumn of 2021, when she posted a cover of Tyler Childers' "Lady May" from her dorm room. While still in high school, she won the Voice of RVA with an original song about addiction called "Pawn Shop 12 String." She eventually dropped out of college to pursue music full time, and in December 2022 she released the EP Interpretations, a collection of covers that ran from Dolly Parton and John Prine to Tyler Childers, Beyoncé and Blink-182. Critics have called her an emerging indie country voice.
