An immersive 360-degree LED dome experience of the 2017 horror film IT, presented using Cosm's proprietary fulldome production technology.
IT in Shared Reality is showing at Cosm in Dallas on Tuesday, October 13. It's the 2017 film directed by Andy Muschietti, the one that follows the Losers' Club in Derry, Maine, as they're hunted by the shape-shifting entity Pennywise the Dancing Clown. If you've seen it, you know the story; if you haven't, it's the first horror title Cosm has programmed so far.
What makes this different from a regular screening is the way it's presented. Cosm runs it on a single 87-foot-diameter, 12K+ LED dome that sits over the audience rather than in front of them. The content isn't just enlarged to fit the space—it's rebuilt using the company's proprietary fulldome production technology. It's the fourth film in their Shared Reality series, following The Matrix, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
The production relies on the image alone, so there aren't any physical effects like haptics, scent, or live performers. It was made in collaboration with Warner Bros. Pictures, Little Cinema, New Line Cinema, and Double Dream, the company founded by filmmakers Andy and Barbara Muschietti.
