An immersive horror experience that floats the 2017 IT film adaptation onto Cosm's massive LED dome, pulling guests into the eerie woods and haunted sewers of Derry, Maine.
IT in Shared Reality is running at Cosm Dallas in The Colony from August 27 through October 31, 2026. It's a virtual reality experience based on Andy Muschietti's 2017 adaptation of Stephen King's IT, and the venue bills it as the world's first horror experience in Shared Reality.
The setup takes the movie and floats it onto Cosm's massive LED dome, which is meant to pull you right into the eerie woods, haunted sewers, and shadowy corners of Derry, Maine. The sound design is cranked up and the environments shift around you, so the film doesn't just stay on the screen—it wraps around you. The story is the one you know: when kids in Derry start disappearing, seven outcast friends called the Losers' Club face their worst nightmare, a shape-shifting entity that preys on fear and most often takes the form of the sinister clown Pennywise.
Cosm is the one behind it, and they've got a 75-year history of building some of the world's largest and most prestigious planetariums and science centers. They describe themselves as an immersive storytelling and fulldome filmmaking company, bringing together artists, filmmakers, technologists, and experience designers to push the boundaries of immersive design. This is their take on the horror genre, using that same dome technology to put you inside the movie rather than just watching it.
