Concert by the Finnish folk-metal and melodic death metal band Ensiferum at The Cambridge Room at House of Blues.
Ensiferum play The Cambridge Room at House of Blues on Tuesday, November 17, at 7 PM. They're a Finnish folk-metal and melodic death metal band from Helsinki, and this is a headlining date with them as the sole act on the bill.
They've been at this since their first demo in 1997, and the years have added up to a long string of albums. One of the bigger ones was Thalassic, which came out in 2020 and topped the album chart in Finland. It hit number three in Germany and made the top ten in Switzerland, Canada, and the US, and it took them on two world tours and to festivals like Wacken, Hellfest, Summer Breeze, and Ragnarök.
Their latest record, Winter Storm, came together during the lockdown. Founding guitarist Markus Toivonen wrote every song on it except "Fatherland," which was penned by bassist Sami Hinkka, and singer and organist Pekka Montin added melodic high notes to the sound. Between that and the earlier records, there's plenty of material to pull from for a single night.
