Violinist Dominique Hammons blends jazz-infused roots and classical artistry in a live soul concert at the Wyly Theatre.
Dominique Hammons brings his Soul Sessions to the Wyly Theatre on Saturday, October 10, at 7:30 PM. It's a solo violin performance that sits right between classical training and jazz, and the whole night is built around that crossover.
Hammons is a Houston native who started classical violin at eight and spent four years in the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts orchestra. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance with an emphasis in jazz from the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 2017. On stage, he's known for his technical skill and the way he blends those jazz roots into his violin work—the kind of performance that holds you from the first note.
