The Dallas Symphony Orchestra celebrates Día de los Muertos with mariachi, ballet folklorico and traditional festivities, blending vibrant music with cultural traditions.
Día de los Muertos with the DSO returns to the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 7:30 PM. It's an annual tradition for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, a night that blends music with the customs of the holiday. The evening is presented in both English and Spanish, and the hall opens two hours before the concert starts.
On the stage, conductor Enrico Lopez-Yañez leads a lineup of mariachi and dance. Mariachi Los Unicos, Mariachi Lone Star, and Mariachi Pegaso all perform, alongside the Booker T. Washington High School Ballet Folklorico. The music shares the bill with the traditional festivities of the holiday: guests are invited to bring an offering for the ofrenda, to eat pan de muerto and drink hot chocolate, and to sing and dance with the Mexican dancers. The organizers describe it as a night of color, joy, and remembrance that brings people to the Meyerson to honor lost loved ones as they return to life, under the phrase todos somos calaveras—we are all skeletons.
