The Dallas Symphony Children's Chorus presents its fifth season with 174 singers and DSO musicians at Meyerson Symphony Center.
The Dallas Symphony Children's Chorus is back at the Meyerson Symphony Center on Sunday, November 1, for their fall concert. It's part of the ensemble's fifth season, and the program is led by artistic director Ellie Lin. The chorus is built to perform alongside the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and their larger concerts have drawn as many as 174 singers to the stage.
The set moves across a few different styles. There's Mozart's Viva!, the traditional spiritual Elijah Rock arranged by Roger Emerson, and America the Beautiful in Jack Noble White's arrangement. Those sit alongside O Love by Elaine Hagenberg and Plaudite by Victor C. Johnson. It's a mix of the classical, the spiritual, and the contemporary, all coming from the same group of voices.
If you're not familiar with the chorus, it's worth keeping in mind that they're designed to work with the DSO, so they're used to the scale of a full orchestra. This is their fifth season, and this particular concert is one of the larger ones they put together. The program is presented by Ellie Lin, who's been at the helm as artistic director.
