Christopher Seymore

Christopher Seymore plays The Rustic on Thursday, October 15, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. It's a duo show, with Seymore sharing the stage with Tyler-James Kelly.

Seymore is a songwriter from the rolling pine-covered hills of upstate South Carolina, now living in Houston. He grew up on a heritage of old-time and honest-to-goodness country, and his writing draws from the whiskey-soaked standards of the golden era. He describes his sound as sitting at the crossroads of traditional country, Americana, and honky tonk—the kind of music that feels right at home in a room like The Rustic.

Coming from that South Carolina background, the traditional country side of his work is the clearest thread. The Americana and honky tonk elements pull it toward the dancehall side of things, so this is a set that leans on the roots of the genre rather than the polished sound of modern Nashville. With Tyler-James Kelly on for the night, it'll be a stripped-back duo performance.
