Jazz vocalist Carolyn Lee Jones performs as part of the State Fair of Texas Music Trio with Miwah Choi at the Old Mill Zeigenbach Stage.
Carolyn Lee Jones plays the State Fair of Texas on Thursday, October 8, at 2:00 PM. She's performing as part of the fair's music trio with Miwah Choi, and the set takes place at the Old Mill Zeigenbach Stage in the Old Mill Building, 3809 Grand Ave in Dallas.
Jones is a Dallas jazz vocalist, recording artist, and bandleader of The Satin Dolls Band and Fresh Vintage Ensemble, recording on the independent label Catn'round Sound. Her repertoire covers Big Band, Bossa Nova, Cabaret, Contemporary Jazz, and Vintage. Jazz Times describes her as attacking each song with the vigor of a wildcatter while maintaining a dusky undercurrent that drips with sensuality.
Much of the set will likely draw from Eklektika, the album she released in June 2026. The title plays on "eclectic," and the record lives up to it: it brings together standards, Brazilian and Latin-leaning textures, original material from her extended musical circle, and songs that link classic vocal jazz to a wider sense of style and storytelling. She describes the phrasing and restraint as what gives the collection continuity.
