Arts District Chorale celebrates its 25th anniversary with a concert, featuring the world premiere of The Choir Invisible by composer Patrick Vu.
Arts District Chorale is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a concert, A Celebration of Song, on Friday, October 16, at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Dallas. The evening is built around the music, memories, and shared experiences that have shaped the choir since it first started a quarter century ago.
The center of the program is the world premiere of The Choir Invisible, a new work the chorale commissioned from composer Patrick Vu. The piece was made possible by a donation from longtime ADC singer David Reinig. Vu set words by George Eliot, and the resulting work reflects the choir's own legacy â the idea that lives continue to resonate through the people they've touched, and that art can become, as Eliot put it, "undying music in the world."
It's a fitting way to mark twenty-five years: a new piece of music that looks back at the people who've been part of the choir along the way. The rest of the program will follow that same thread, with the chorale performing music that traces its history from its founding to the present.
