The world-renowned ensemble Vitamin String Quartet joins forces with the vocal trio Girl Named Tom for their genre-defying arrangements.
Vitamin String Quartet and Girl Named Tom are playing the Southern Theatre on Tuesday, October 20, as part of their Crazy Ordinary World Tour. It's a double bill with two separate sets: VSQ takes the first, and Girl Named Tom follows for the second. Together they're touring the US with a program of reimagined classics and modern hits.
Vitamin String Quartet is known for taking pop and rock anthems and turning them into virtuosic instrumentals. If you've watched Bridgerton on Netflix, you've already heard them—their work was featured in the fourth season. They're a string ensemble that treats familiar songs like new compositions, stripping away the lyrics and letting the arrangements carry the melody.
Girl Named Tom is a vocal trio that won The Voice in 2021. Since then they've carved out a place in new American folk music, with a reputation built on tight harmonies and heartfelt songwriting. While VSQ handles the instrumental side of things, Girl Named Tom brings the voices, and the two acts share a similar approach to taking well-known songs and reworking them into something that sounds like their own.
