Weekly open jam night with all genres and instruments, hosted by music director Patrick Thomas Bolich at Traditions Tavern.
Tradition's Tavern hosts its Tuesday Open Jam every Tuesday night, with the next one on October 28. It's now in its second year, and the organizers call it "Central Ohio's Hottest Open Jam" and "truly a Tuesday Tradition."
It's a jam session in the truest sense: all genres, all instruments, and all bands are welcome. If you play, you bring your own instrument or drumsticks, and the venue provides the amps and drums. There are also weekly spotlight sets available for anyone who books in advance, so if you've got a few songs you want to run through without the open-mic scramble, that's your best bet.
Patrick Thomas Bolich hosts and serves as music director, and he's a familiar face in the local sceneβhe plays in Dirty Red Sunshine, Atomic Elbow, and Hott Lucy, the house band for QFM96 (WLVQ-FM 96.3). Myke Rock, who presents the night through Myke Rock Arts & Music Booking & Publicity, holds down the bass as the house bassist. Joining them in the house band are Grant Guilkey and Shawn Hutchison. Together they provide the backbone for whoever steps up to the mic.
