TreeHouse!, the Myrtle Beach fusion band blending reggae, roots, rock and jam, plays Woodlands Tavern with Rockstead and Land of Panda.
TreeHouse! is playing Woodlands Tavern on Thursday, October 29, with Rockstead and Land of Panda opening the night. The show starts at 7 PM at 1200 West Third Avenue in Columbus.
TreeHouse! comes from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and they describe their sound as a fusion of reggae, roots, rock, jam, and psychedelic. It's a wide net to cast, but that's the point of the jam side of things—the set can pull from any of those directions. Over the years they've shared stages with 311, Matisyahu, Michael Franti, Dirty Heads, and SOJA, all acts that live in that same intersection of reggae and rock. If you've seen any of those bands, you've got a good idea of the territory TreeHouse! covers.
The band is a five-piece: Jason Hazinski on saxophone, Nick Thompson on bass and vocals, Jeremy Anderson on vocals and guitar, Ryan McCarthy on drums, and John Bowling on keys, organ, and synth. Having a saxophone and a full keyboard rig—organ and synth included—gives them a lot to work with, and the two vocalists mean they can trade off or sing together. It's a full band on stage, not a stripped-down version of the group.
