Mel Brooks' big Broadway musical about a failed Broadway producer, presented by Short North Stage at the Garden Theater.
The Producers opens at the Garden Theater on March 11, 2027, and runs through April 11. It's Mel Brooks' big Broadway musical, with a book he co-wrote with Thomas Meehan and music and lyrics by Brooks himself. The show follows Max Bialystock, a down-on-his-luck producer, and his mild-mannered accountant Leo Bloom, who scheme to stage the most notorious flop in history—the gloriously offensive Springtime for Hitler—only to discover the show becomes a smash hit. It won a record twelve Tony Awards and skewers Broadway traditions, proudly calling itself an "equal opportunity offender!"
Short North Stage is presenting the production. They're a professional regional theater in the heart of Columbus's Short North Arts District, and they've been staging musical theater at the Garden Theater since 2011. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, they cultivate the next generation of theater artists through an acclaimed internship program and mix New York City and local talent on stage. The show is rated PG-13.
