Monthly long-form improv show by The Hashtag Comedy Company that changes its style every month at The Hashtag Comedy Club.
The Hashtag Comedy Company is running The Long Game at The Hashtag Comedy Club, their newest monthly improv show. It runs on the third Friday of every month, so you can catch it on Friday, August 21, at 1253 N High Street in Columbus. Doors open at 8:45 PM and the show starts at 9 PM.
If you're not familiar with long-form improv, it's different from the short-game stuff you might expect. Instead of a series of quick, disconnected games, the performers take a single suggestion and build a full scene or a whole world around it. The thing that sets The Long Game apart is that it switches styles every month. One night the set might lean on a fast-paced long-form format, and the next it might settle into character-driven worlds. The improvisers build something completely new in real time in front of the room, so no two months end up feeling the same.
Because it's a monthly series, it's the kind of thing that works better the more you follow it. You get to see how the company handles different formats and how the energy changes from one month to the next. If you've never seen long-form before, it's a good place to start, and if you're already into improv, it's a chance to see the same group tackle a different approach each time they come back.
