Free book launch of the limited edition artist book 'sun & shadow' with prints by the Phoenix Rising Printmaking Cooperative artists and poet Fred Andrle.
WOSU Public Media Headquarters is hosting the launch of sun & shadow on Thursday, October 22, from 6 PM to 8 PM. It's a limited-edition artist book that brings together twelve printmakers from the Phoenix Rising Printmaking Cooperative and local poet Fred Andrle, and the evening is built around getting to see the work in person.
Inside the book, you'll find prints by Mary Jane Ward, Judith Steele, Christopher O'Leary, Elaina Workley, Ben Jones White, Amy Teall, David Pickard, Kristina Weaver, Karen Albanese Campbell, Anne Cushman, and Peter White. The typesetting is by Stephen Goldmeier, and the text is a haiku by Andrle. It's a collaboration that's been in the making since November 2025, so this is the first time the finished book is out in the open.
Fred Andrle is a familiar voice around here. He was the executive producer and host of Open Line, WOSU's daily public affairs show, and retired in May 2009 after twenty years on the program. Along the way, he picked up Ohio Public Broadcasting and Regional Emmy awards. He'll be there that night, and the artists will be too, so you can talk to them about the project and how it came together.
