Student Recital: Julie McMahon & Jacob Evener, trumpet

Julie McMahon and Jacob Evener are playing a trumpet recital at Huntington Recital Hall on Thursday, November 5, from 5:30 to 7:15 PM. It's a student recital coming out of the Conservatory of Music at Capital University, so you'll have two trumpetists sharing the stage rather than a single soloist.

Since it's a recital, the program is built around the trumpet, and having two players on it means you'll hear the instrument in a few different ways—likely some pieces for solo trumpet and some written for two trumpets playing together. It's the kind of afternoon show that works well if you're in the city and want to catch some live music before the evening really gets going.

The recital is held at Huntington Recital Hall, which is part of the Capital University campus here in Columbus. If you've never been to a student recital before, it's a pretty straightforward experience: you get to hear performers who are working through their repertoire in a dedicated performance space, and the atmosphere is usually supportive and focused on the music.

Admission is free, so there's no ticket to worry about. The recital runs from 5:30 to 7:15 PM on Thursday, November 5, at Huntington Recital Hall on the Capital University campus in Columbus.
