Penn & Beech Candle Co. is hosting a candle-making workshop at Land-Grant Extension on Wednesday, October 21, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. It's a hands-on session where you make a custom-scented fall candle from start to finish, and the people running it—who call themselves 'Scent Experts'—walk you through the whole process.
Each person pours a 9oz candle and designs their own label. The fragrance options go beyond the usual pumpkin, so you can steer your candle in whatever direction you like. Once the wax is poured, it needs about 90 minutes to cure, and that's when the night shifts gears. While the candles set, the room turns into a social hour with beer, cider, and draft cocktails on tap. You can hang out, have a drink, and chat while your candle does its thing in the background.
The finished candle is ready to take home that same evening, so you'll leave with it in hand. If you can't make it back to pick yours up, it can be collected the following day at the Grandview location on Grandview Avenue.

Logistically, the evening is split into four half-hour pouring slots starting at 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, and 7:00 PM, so you can pick the time that works best for you.
