ProArteOHIO, the professional choral ensemble formerly the Lancaster Chorale, brings its holiday programme of Christmas motets, carols and holiday favourites with guest artist Joshua Brodbeck.
ProArteOHIO is bringing their holiday program to Saint Mary Catholic Church on Sunday, December 13, at 4 PM. It's the second of two performances they're doing this season, the first being on November 29 at St. Mary of the Assumption in Lancaster. The program, titled Sing Lullaby, pulls together Christmas motets, carols, and holiday favorites, and they'll be joined by international guest artist Joshua Brodbeck.
If you're not familiar with them, ProArteOHIO—formerly the Lancaster Chorale—is an all-professional vocal ensemble. They've built a name as one of the region's premier choral groups, and they work from a pretty broad place: they draw on a deep treasury of past repertoire, program new works, and run educational initiatives with young singers. This holiday set sits right in that mix, blending the older motets and carols with the more familiar holiday favorites.
Both performances are staged in the grand, reverberant spaces of two historic churches, and the printed programs include full texts and translations of the lyrics, which makes the experience accessible whether you've followed choral music for years or you're just coming in for the holiday atmosphere. The program is funded by the Ohio Arts Commission.
