Live show by the queer and trans cowboy band Olivia and the Lovers, with West Taylor and Moe Reen, at The Rambling House.
Olivia and the Lovers play The Rambling House on Monday, October 19, with West Taylor and Moe Reen opening. It's a queer and trans cowboy band out of Chicago, and the show falls under Americana, country and bluegrass — part of the city's ARTober programme.
Frontwoman Olivia Love writes the songs, and she draws from classic American folk and cowboy standards. She describes her music as a vehicle for vulnerability, with lyrics that look at queer love, loss and healing. The band's broader aim is to increase visibility and safety for queer voices, bodies and narratives in the country music scene, so the set sits right at the intersection of traditional country sounds and queer storytelling.
It's a full bill, with West Taylor and Moe Reen warming up before Olivia and the Lovers take the stage. The whole thing is part of ARTober, the city's autumn arts series, so it's one of several events happening around Columbus this month.
