Evening walking tour of the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens for members.
Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is hosting its November Member Walk on Thursday, November 12, from 6 PM to 7 PM. It's a guided stroll through the grounds, and as the name suggests, it's aimed at the conservatory's members.
If you're not that familiar with the place, the Conservatory is Central Ohio's premier botanical garden, and it's built around the John F. Wolfe Palm House, which dates back to 1895. The whole site covers about 13 acres, and the walk takes you through the main Conservatory building, the Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Children's Garden, and the Grand Mallway. Inside, you'll find botanical biomes, lush gardens, horticulture and art exhibitions, and a Dale Chihuly glass-work collection on display. It's a lot to see in one go, so a guided walk is a good way to take it in without having to map it out yourself.
Right next to the main building is the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company Community Garden Campus, a sprawling four-acre garden that's open to the public for free. It includes an apiary, a rose pavilion, a berry house, 40 community garden plots, a demonstration kitchen, and a Live-Fire Cooking Theater. If you have some extra time before or after the walk, that's a separate area you can explore on your own.
