Fully improvised live newscast that satirises recent events experienced by random audience members, hosted by Bob Roberts.
Bob Roberts hosts NEWSFLASH! at The Hashtag Comedy Club on Saturday, November 14, from 9:00 to 10:30 PM. He'll be joined by a hand-picked group of improvisors, and the whole thing is built around the audience.
If you've never seen it, NEWSFLASH! is a fully improvised live newscast. The show reports on and satirizes recent events experienced by random audience members, and it doesn't stop at the headlines. It fills out the stories with witnesses, experts, and commentators, all made up on the spot. Since the news comes from the people in the room, no two shows ever run the same way.
It's presented by The Hashtag Comedy Company, which started more than 13 years ago with its Hashtag Comedy Improv Show—an anchor show at the club that runs alongside other monthly improv nights. The club itself bills itself as Columbus's top spot for live comedy, with a program of improv, stand-up, and sketch shows.
