Weekly Tuesday night of jazz with the Park Street Tavern house band led by Pete Mills and a jam session for musicians.
Jazz Night is back at Park Street Tavern on Tuesday, October 27, with Pete Mills leading the house band. It's a weekly thing, so if you miss this one, there's another the following Tuesday.
The night is built around the house band, which Pete Mills helms. They work their way through classic jazz standards and more modern hits, so the set usually covers a fair bit of ground. It's described as part performance and part jam session, and the floor is open to musicians who bring their own instrument and play alongside some of the city's local jazz performers. If you play, you're welcome to jump in; if you don't, you can just watch the room fill up with people sitting in.
That jam side of things is a big part of what the night is about. It's presented as low-pressure and welcoming, and it's one of the more authentic live music nights you'll find in Columbus. The house band keeps the momentum going, and the guest spots add a bit of unpredictability to every session.
