A regional competitive dance competition bringing together dancers from across the area to showcase their talent and creativity across various styles and divisions.
The ID Dance Competition takes over the Greater Columbus Convention Center on Saturday, October 17, bringing together dancers from across the region for a full day of competitive dance. It's a regional competition, so you'll see a mix of styles and divisions on one stage, with dancers competing throughout the day. If you're into dance, it's a good way to see a lot of different approaches in one go rather than just one studio or one style.
The venue is the Greater Columbus Convention Center at 400 N High St, right in the heart of downtown. It's a massive placeβ1.8 million square feet of flexible space, with 373,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, 74 meeting rooms, and three ballrooms that total 114,000 square feet. It's built for events of every scale, so it can handle a regional competition like this without breaking a sweat.
Since it's downtown, the logistics are pretty easy. The center is connected to four hotels, including the 1,000-room Hilton Columbus Downtown, which makes it simple if you're coming from out of town. Inside, there's an indoor hydroponic garden, a variety of dining options, and central Ohio's largest contemporary art collection, with the As We Are sculpture as the standout piece. If you've got a gap between performances, there's plenty to do without leaving the building.
