Concert by The Early Interval, a Columbus early music ensemble celebrating its 50th anniversary, within the 47th season of the Early Music in Columbus series.
The Early Interval plays at First Congregational Church on Sunday, January 3, 2027, as part of the 47th season of Early Music in Columbus. The concert starts at 4 PM, with a pre-concert talk at 3:30 PM for anyone who wants a bit of context before the music begins.
This year's program follows the Star in the East and the Magi, with music spanning the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and Europe. It's a holiday tradition for the group, and this particular performance is the annual Ron Cook Twelfth Night concert, named for one of the ensemble's founders, who spent decades as a member of the Early Music in Columbus board. The ensemble itself has been around since 1976, known for expressive performances and adventurous programming on a wide array of historical instruments, and it's celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
The concert is part of the series' 47th season, which runs seven programs between January and April 2027. The season is supported by the Ohio Arts Council, the Greater Columbus Arts Council, The Columbus Foundation, and the Arts Midwest Touring Fund.
