Concert by the Baroque ensemble ACRONYM with countertenor Reginald Mobley, part of the 47th season of Early Music in Columbus.
ACRONYM plays First Community Church North on Friday, April 9, 2027, as part of the 47th season of Early Music in Columbus. The program is Lasciatemi Morire: Songs of Love, Death and Devotion, and the ensemble is joined by countertenor Reginald Mobley, whose celestial tone brings the music to life.
ACRONYM has been around since 2012 and is one of the city's most active interpreters of Baroque music, known for energetic playing, expressive storytelling, and a commitment to rediscovering hidden musical treasures. Much of their work draws on seventeenth-century Germany, with programs featuring composers like Valentini, Bertali, Schmelzer, and Biber. They've performed at the Boston Early Music Festival, the Naumburg Orchestral Concerts in Central Park, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and the Baldwin Wallace Bach Festival, often alongside BWV: Cleveland's Bach Choir. Mobley, a GRAMMY nominee, joins them for this particular set.
The concert is part of the 47th season of Early Music in Columbus, which stages works written before 1800 at historical sites across the city. The series is supported by the Ohio Arts Council, the Greater Columbus Arts Council, The Columbus Foundation, and the Arts Midwest Touring Fund.
