Irish comedian and author David Nihill brings his new stand-up show 'Taking Tangents' to the Lincoln Theatre.
David Nihill is back at the Lincoln Theatre on Friday, January 29, 2027, with his new stand-up show Taking Tangents. It's his first Columbus date since his last world tour sold out, and this time he's bringing brand-new material.
If you're not familiar with him, Nihill is an Irish comedian and bestselling author who left Dublin, where he was born and raised, at 22. Since then, he's lived and worked in twelve countries and visited more than eighty. That's where the comedy comes from: cultural observations and stories about life as a mildly confused immigrant. It's the kind of thing that works because it's based on actually being there, not just reading about it.
He's built a solid track record along the way. He won the San Francisco Comedy Competition—the same one that previously produced finalists like Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, and Dana Carvey—and finished as runner-up in the Moth's largest US Grandslam storytelling competition. His recorded specials include Documented (2019), Cultural Appreciation (2022), and the award-winning Shelf Help (2025), all through Dry Bar Comedy. His work has appeared on TED.com, Sirius XM, Just For Laughs, Netflix is a Joke Festival, RTE's Late Late Show, The Irish Independent, NPR, and the LA Times, and his videos have more than a billion views and two million followers.
