Free guided tour of the exhibition 'Clare Rojas: Returning' led by CMA Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs Katherine Brodbeck.
Katherine Brodbeck, the Columbus Museum of Art's Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs, is leading a tour of Clare Rojas: Returning on Thursday, October 22, from 6 to 7 PM in the Lower Level Walter Wing. It's a guided walk through the exhibition, which runs from September 18, 2026, through February 7, 2027.
For context, Clare Rojas is an American painter, sculptor, and musician who spent most of her career in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she's earned critical acclaim. Returning is the first exhibition of her work in her hometown of Columbus, and the title is literal: it comes about because she recently moved back to Ohio. The whole show takes the cyclical nature of life as its starting point.
Her visual language draws on birds, witches, folklore, and the natural world to look at transformation, intuition, and renewal, and to show how magic and mystery are woven into everyday life. The work is informed by ecofeminism, portraying nature as a source of wisdom and returning repeatedly to the same formal motifs to show how self-realization and caretaking evolve over time. The exhibition brings together more than sixty paintings and sculptures, all curated by Brodbeck.
