Cooking class at Quinci Emporium to prepare the three iconic Roman pasta sauces.
Quinci Emporium is hosting a cooking class on the three iconic Roman pasta sauces, with sessions running on Wednesday, October 21 and Thursday, October 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Over the course of the two hours, you'll learn how to make the three sauces that define Roman pastaโthe big three that most people recognize but rarely make from scratch at home. It's a hands-on class, so you're doing the work rather than just watching a demo.
If you're not already familiar, Quinci Emporium is a Short North spot that does two things: cooking classes and wine tastings. It also houses a retail shop stocked with fine foods from Italy and wines from all over the world, which is a nice place to browse before or after a class. The shop is right there in the same space, so you can pick up the ingredients you'll be using while you're there.
Since the class is about Roman pasta, the focus is on the classics. You'll walk through the three sauces that put Rome on the culinary map, and by the end of the session, you'll have the technique down to make them in your own kitchen. It's a good way to get a handle on a few staples at once rather than tackling them one by one.
