Halloween screening of 'Cloverfield' followed by monster-themed drag and burlesque numbers by Xtra Blaque, Leelah Garbanzo, Kitty B. Thicke, Masala Kumari, Calli Coquette and Mizer Malicious.
Cinema Cabaret returns to The Spacebar on Sunday, October 25, for a Halloween edition that pairs a movie screening with live drag and burlesque. The film is Cloverfield, the 2008 shaky-cam monster movie that follows the destruction of New York City. The live portion consists of monster-themed drag and burlesque numbers, pitched as high camp or high horror, and the whole night is presented as a three-way crossover between The Sapphic Society, Freakshow, and Coquette Events.
The lineup for the live numbers includes Xtra Blaque, Leelah Garbanzo, Kitty B. Thicke, Masala Kumari, Calli Coquette, and Mizer Malicious, with Gemini Jones and Honey B. Thicke co-hosting. The movie and the performances run together over the course of the evening, and the room rounds out the experience with popcorn and drinks from the bar. The whole thing runs about two and a half hours.
