Cigarettes @ Sunset bring their Appalachian Possum Rock to The Bluestone on East Broad Street, on the Appalachian Raised Tour 2027.
Cigarettes @ Sunset play The Bluestone on Wednesday, April 21, 2027, as part of their Appalachian Raised Tour. They're a five-piece from the mountains of North Carolina, formed in 2021 and based in Boone, and this is their Columbus stop on the run.
They call their sound Appalachian Possum Rock, and that's a fair place to start. It pulls together Appalachian angst, pop, outlaw country, and punk. You'll hear driving guitar riffs and drums that swerve between country and punk, with a swelling violin running through it. Garrett Dellinger's semi-autobiographical lyrics anchor the music in a specific time and place, and the whole thing sits somewhere between the high lonesome sound and a loud club set.
Live, they lean into shoegaze, old-time, and indie rock, and they've spent the last few years touring the East Coast regularly alongside acts like Dexter & The Moonrocks. The lineup is Dellinger, Sarah Vann, Ryland Bagbey, Wells Whitman, and Ethan Moore. If you've never caught them, this is a good chance to hear how they blend those styles in person.
