Sixth annual black-tie fundraiser for the NOW Foundation with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, a Michael Jackson tribute, fashion showcases, visual art, culinary tastings and comedy.
The Columbus Symphony Orchestra is taking over COSI on Saturday, October 31, for the sixth annual Excellence Black Tie Gala. It's the big fundraiser for the NOW Foundation, which provides free workforce development, professional development, and growth resources to entrepreneurs, small-business owners, and creatives. The gala is part of a three-day weekend the symphony is billing as 'four experiences in one unforgettable weekend,' drawing on more than a century of the orchestra's history.
On the musical side, the orchestra is led by Music Director Rossen Milanov, with Elias Miller conducting. They're joined by vocalists Quan Howell, Brianna Mosley, and Najoura, and the night includes a special Michael Jackson tribute performed by the orchestra. But the music is only one part of the evening: the gala pairs the classical side of things with the broader Columbus arts scene, adding fashion showcases, visual artists, culinary tastings, comedy, live bands, and multiple DJs. Guests also get access to COSI's celebrated exhibit.
It's a night that brings together a lot of different crowds—professionals, creatives, entrepreneurs, and tastemakers—and it typically draws more than 3,500 people to the city. The afterparty keeps the energy going on the top floor of COSI, with DJ Kid Capri on the decks.
